It takes nothing to join the crowd
It takes everything to stand alone.

Embracing your differences can be one of the most difficult things to achieve but once you understand who you are it can be liberating. Spiritual teacher and author Wayne Dyer explained that we all are a part of specific tribes usually based around societal norms like religion, race, nationality, sexual proclivity ect. He also suggested that the most important tribes that we will belong to are aligned to our beliefs and goals. A particular point that struck me was the reaction from some of your tribe - friends, family, colleagues, as you start to grow beyond what is comfortable for them. Their emotions can range from disappointment, confusion, anger, envy to sadness all because the tribe wants you to maintain the status quo - remain a part of it even if it's stunting your growth. You too have your doubts because you may have never questioned your tribes suitability now suddenly you're starting to examine it for cracks. Embracing yourself can be about moving on, breaking free or simply holding yourself to a higher standard. It may not be to everyone's liking but if it's the best for you. Just do it.
