This is empowering for several reasons, the least of which means if we don’t like what appears, we can change our thoughts to create new circumstances.
How many times have you seen someone you know go through a tough period but overcome it while others seem to attract drama after drama after drama? I don’t think it’s bad luck. It’s flawed thinking.
What we think at the deepest level of our consciousness is bound to show up in our reality whether we like it or not.
Because thoughts become things and what we think about we bring about.
Â
As Earl Nightingale reminds us.
You are what you think about.
Â
Consider this for a moment. You are who you are and where you are because of your thoughts. Everything you have or don’t have today is the sum total of all the thoughts you’ve had.
So what do we do to make sure our thoughts align with what we want?
It’s gonna take some discipline but isn’t it worth it? Here’s what works for me.Â
You’ve got to start thinking about what you’re thinking about.
Snap out of autopilot.
Start asking yourself why did I think that?
Why did my mood change because someone said something to me?
Why do I suddenly feel disempowered or depressed after watching this news feature?
Â
We need to start thinking about what we’re thinking about.
Â
When negativity comes up about a situation or an action you need to take, you need to interrogate yourself on why you feel the way you do. Slow it down and check out the pictures associated with it in your head. If those pictures aren’t serving you, change them. The awareness you develop about your thinking process will allow you to deconstruct your negative thoughts to guide them in a different direction.
Instead of asking, Why does this always happen to me?
Ask yourself better questions, and your brain will deliver better answers.
Something like, What can I do next time, so I’m pleased with my results?
We all have these toxic and limiting beliefs that are messing up our progress. If you know what they are, you need to actively scrub them out. If you don’t. Find them and remove them. They are your roadblocks.
When negativity rears its ugly head, get curious, shift your thinking and change what you believe in.
