It’s about the level of respect you hold for yourself and the kind of life you’re willing to accept. I love writing, traveling; I love good food, history, and great conversation. I’d be disrespecting myself if I didn’t strive to manifest these things in my life.
Â
The individual who hates his job yet spends most of his free time on TV, partying, and sleeping in has only himself to blame when life doesn’t turn out the way they hoped. Their level of sacrifice will always equate to their level of success.
Â
On the other hand, the individual who is willing to do whatever it takes is likely to experience massive growth and success, even if they start out in the midst of the most unfortunate of circumstances.
Â
Even if you don’t achieve the goal, but you’ve set your sights high enough, then the person you have become in order to accomplish that goal in the first place will astound you.

“Your level of success will rarely exceed your level of personal development because success is something you attract by the person you become.” -Hal Elrod, The Miracle Morning.

I’m no different from anyone when it comes to making hard choices. I love Netflix, Prime TV, and sleeping in but at what cost. To be honest with you, it takes me way longer to learn the lessons life has thrown at me than most. What I do know, there is no such thing as a shortcut. If you’re looking for that strategy that will absolve you from making sacrifices, don’t waste your time. The more sensible approach would be to reconcile yourself with the fact that
sacrifice is inevitable, so why not use it to make your life better.
If you want to live a life no one else is, you must be willing to make sacrifices; no one else will.
Â
If you’re creative, you have already sacrificed the life people said you should have for the life you love, a life that is inspiring and fucking exciting. Because that’s the whole point. To create is a privilege, one that creatives know not to take for granted. To deny a conventional life is a risk in itself, but not as much of a risk as denying your heart.
Sacrifice is hard. No one said it would be easy, but what is the alternative.
Mediocrity?
I think not.
