This game of life is not meant to be always easy, it’s meant to be rewarding.
So many people complain about life’s difficulties. So many try to hide from them. And yet it’s the difficulties of life that make us who we are — and it’s through the trials that we become heroic.
Consider the trials you’ve been through and tell me if they haven’t made you stronger. They forced you to dig deep, find yourself, and grow?
Personally, I look at myself now, and I’m proud because when I cast my memory back, there were certain times I wasn’t sure I would make it. But I did. Going through it in the moment was hard; it was painful, but I did it, and in retrospect, I’m better for it. That hero that we require in our life is inside us all. It is something powerful and wondrous. But it only comes forth when times are hard.Â
Â
I’m not saying that somehow we must develop a means to remain unaffected by life’s hardships and tragedies, and I’m not saying you should welcome it either. What I am saying is when the inevitable challenges arise, they will contribute to your identity — and it’s up to you whether they do it positively or negatively.
Â
You don’t need to wait for anyone to save you. You can save yourself, but without hardship, without trials, the heroic side of you remains dormant.
Â
Gentle Reader, the truth is that real success is earned by people willing to take a risk, and it doesn’t happen in the light. Success comes when you have spent countless hours grinding on your craft. In the dark, when everyone else is willing to spend that same time relaxing and sleeping. You have to be willing to sacrifice and do the work that will allow you to live the life you dream.
Â
When life is hard, and your back is against the wall, remember inside you is that hero. The challenges will always be here, so you might as well live your life larger than you think is currently possible. A strange thing happens when you reach for another level, your belief in what is actually possible will stretch with you.Â
And your hero will step up when you most need it.Â
