What makes me qualified to give advice on how to be the best you can be? I’m certainly no guru, but like you, I’m a member of the human race experiencing the world and sharing my observations. I’m not special by any stretch of the imagination, but the little things that have worked for me could work for you. That’s why I believe in the old adage of leaving no stone unturned.

Push Yourself Because Nobody Else Will

We must exhaust all avenues before retreating into defeat. If you are serious about these goals you've set yourself, then you have no choice.
That’s why patience and thoroughness are so important in my process, and they just happen to be my Achilles heel. Every goal is different, and everybody’s process is different but I struggle with patience. I just want results as quickly as possible.

But I find it’s never as easy as the Guru’s, mentors or instructors say - for me at least. Maybe because of who I am or what I choose to base my fiction on, but it’s much more difficult to see results for my efforts. And I’m not just speculating either. I speak to other authors about their process, especially when its to do with sales or exposing your work to new readers. We may apply the same techniques in the same genres and have similar reader demographics, and I’m still working doubly hard to get similar results.

Some of my fellow writers have author platforms that aren’t as streamlined as my own, yet they’re having better short term results. For some reason in the early days, they don’t need to be thorough, were in my case I have to be, leaving no stone unturned. Simply because I can’t afford to miss anything.

So my approach has to be never give up even when it seems the sensible thing to do. I’m working away at other angles, other methods. Tinkering at the aspects that have been ignored or overlooked.

For me, giving up would be the absolute last resort. I would need to exhaust every avenue for that to happen, and that is extremely unlikely. Sometimes that thing I set out to achieve may not appear in the form I intended. So that’s why my author brand is looking at audio books, plays, graphic novels, TV, and film. It’s possible that my goals may be achieved through these forms, but if I don’t explore them, how will I know.
Our quest for success requires restrained patience and smart use of our time. Fortunately for us, the only time you will ever have is now.

Whatever your dreams are, whatever you truly want for your life, you must not wait for the “right” moment. That moment will never come. The only time you have, or will ever have, is this very moment. We want to be able to look ourselves in the mirror and be absolutely sure that at least we tried to explore every option that pertained to achieving our goal. I never rest on my laurels, but I’d be happy knowing that I left no stone unturned in the pursuit of my calling.
And so should you.
