But this type of thinking will only lead to disappointment. The moment you reach those goals, you’ll be thinking about your next milestone, not realising your making a difference.
To live a meaningful life, you must know that one thing is true: You are already making an impact with your work, and you are making a difference, this very moment.
Unhappiness comes from believing that no one cares about what you do. Feeling insignificant in a crowded world is easy. Your job is to keep producing the work and striving to consistently improve. Share your creation with your tribe and get seen. You may not know who your tribe is right now, but you will find your audience, and social media is perfect for this. Just have patience, and don’t forget that happiness is a byproduct of knowing you are useful. And you can be useful in big and small
ways every single day.Â
In our case, we talk every week through our emails, and I’d like to think I’m making an impact in your life from my thoughts on being the best we can be. Small things like that.
What if I want to do bigger things?  Then there are my books and stories that, through your support, will one day get me to a broader audience through comics, TV, and film. But right this moment, my books will hopefully entertain you and make you think. I’m happy with the impact they offer, but the skies the limit for what is possible. People who merely affect us can be forgotten, as their influence is passing and impermanent. People who impact us, however, are memorable and significant to
our personal growth.Â
I want to be the latter to as many people as I can.
Sometimes it takes a while to get where we want to be. But know that the work you’re doing right now matters. Having this understanding will push you to keep going.
It’s pushing me.
