What is a Circle?
Simply put, your Circle should be a group of people who will help each other to develop business and personal skills that can get them to their goals.
Napoleon Hill, known as the father of masterminds, wrote, “No mind is complete by itself. It needs contact and association with other minds to grow and expand.”
My Circle is the people I share my plans with before I launch my work because they are integral to the creation of those same plans in the first place.
I formed my first Circle in High School after reading Napoleon Hills, Think and Grow Rich.
It was a life-changing experience and I can understand why many people don't take up the challenge. A Circle is hard to create because you want the right people involved. But the effort is worth it. My writing Circle in London is called Dark Nebula. We are picky about the type of people we want to join us simply because we know how powerful it is.
Don’t take my word for it, some of the greats used Circles and Mastermind groups. The Inklings was one of the most well-known examples of a mastermind group in literary circles. This Circle consisted of a group of authors who met regularly to further refine their writing through debate and brainstorming. Two of it’s most famous members, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien, both attribute their literary success to this group and both
became better authors for it.
Still not sure about the benefits. Here are three more reasons.
Community: A writers life can be an isolated one but having a group of like-minded creatives to work with and share ideas can make the writing experience so much more exciting.
Inspiration and motivation: Setting goals and hearing what others are doing will push you to do more. Learning from others about their wins and even failures will improve your chances of winning. You’ll share in their successes because you’ll have offered them advice, held them accountable, and cheered them on.
Accelerated learning: When your Circle comes together as a group, you are plugged into the combined knowledge and experience of its members. Nothing in my experience gives you that kind of power and advantage. You will find that your goals and your strategies will be turbo charged. Because through a process of osmosis, you will begin to know what your Circle knows. That’s years of experience crammed into one space.
Awesome!
Two, three or four heads are always better than one. Being a member of a Circle has the potential to accelerate your results in every area of your life. To my mind, there’s no greater gift you can give yourself and your goals.
So no need to share your plans with small-minded people. Just let them marvel at the results of your efforts.
