Never Underestimate desperate people. You Never Know How Far they Will Go to Get What They Want.
— Unknown
This was a catastrophe.
I was in six-figure debt due to my business failure and my world as I knew it was imploding. I had to accept that the venture I had spent three years working on was dead, and there was no coming back for it. It felt unfair and unjust, but I knew At the back if my mind there was a lesson to be learned from the anguish, worry, and despondency I was feeling. At that moment I couldn’t bring myself to recognize it.
I'm this Good because I'm Desperate.
I had other things to worry about at the time.
As super uncomfortable as it was for me, my debtors could not wait, and I had to take action. Nothing motivates you out of your comfort zone like the urgent sense of desperation.
It came to me.
Consistent action made things happen. So I began to put my life back together. I had to do something, or I’d go crazy.
Things happen when you take action. Yes, sometimes the results don’t pan out the way you hope. It’s disappointing, but just taking the steps makes a difference, makes you better.
When you fail to get the results you want, you learn a valuable piece of information. You learn what doesn’t work. And throughout this process, you are making changes to yourself. You can’t help it.
Emotionally, I recovered quickly and got involved in an online passion project that did well but still failed due to conflicts between founders. I took away so much from that experience because I was desperate to make amends. It gave me so much clarity that I came away from that lesson with skills I wouldn’t have obtained otherwise.
If I was comfortable, there is no way I would have learned or grown the way I have, but adversity has taught me some tough and useful lessons.
Desperation gave me the push I needed to take uncomfortable actions. It’s the most potent force for driving change. Inspiration might motivate you to want to change, but it lacks the urgency and energy to push you past the mental obstacles.
Embrace your desperation. Use it as a tool and see how much better it can make you if you let it.
Peace
