Think about the the seconds I wasted being upset over what someone said about me, the hours wasted being around negative people, the days I spent working on projects I had no enthusiasm for, weeks I spent sucking up to someone who in your heart of hearts I knew was no good for me and months telling myself I can't create the life I've always wished for. We all have very few hours here on this earth to be squandering them on anything, that does not empower
you.
How many people could be doing so much better if they used their time well? Instead, they give it away, leaving themselves broke, unsatisfied, and stressed.
What if your time was a commodity? What would it be valued at in dollars or pounds?
Most people value their time at far, far less than it’s worth.
This arena is where I first began to understand the value of my time. I asked myself something. It's simple but so effective.
Here’s the question.
What if you knew that your time was worth $1000 an hour? Would you waste it idling time on social media? Watching low-quality TV? Aimless socializing?
If you don’t treat yourself and your time with respect, you will become unhappy, resentful, and tired. You can’t make a mark in the world if your time is cheap and easily taken. You need to see the value in it before someone else will.
The only way to honor your time is by doing important work. This is the kind of work no one can define except you. And that important work is something that only you can do, in a way only you can do it. It will impact a group of people big or small and make a difference in their lives.
Don’t take important work for granted.
Value your time at the level it's deserves to be. The higher the value, the more important and productive work you’ll do — and the less trivial and mindless tasks you’ll get caught in.
Make every second count.
