The key is to Keep Company only with people who uplift you, whose presence calls fourth your best. — Epictitus Let's be brutally honest. There are some people you do not want to be around because on a psychic level they are poisonous for you. You need to surround yourself with people who support and share your vision. Over the years I’ve
personally weeded out anyone in my life who refuses to grow or take responsibility for the direction they are headed. It’s a lifelong process. It sounds worst than it is and you will start to realize due to the nature of these individuals they will disappear from your life without your effort. Well for me it was like that. To my mind writing is the sexist passion in the world but the negative people in my life didn’t share that assessment. Good
thing.
Oh hell naw. I ain't compromising my standards for no one. They dropped off and disappeared. Saving me the confrontation. For you guys, it could be more uncomfortable, but it's necessary. It sounds a bit cynical I know, but we only get one shot at this, you want it to be the most productive, meaningful and passionate life possible. You have to be around anyone who makes you want to do great things. But it, not a one-way transaction. You must be equally interested in giving them
value from knowing you. I talk about it a lot but its so true. Improve yourself through books, courses, experiences, and mentors. Be better physically, financially, spiritually and mentally. Be that inspirational figure your friends can look up to and want to be like.
Another thing I found out was that not all negativity is made equal and you have to judge for yourself what your tolerance levels are. Some of your associates you can take only
for an hour before they start affecting your vibe, some will mess with your perspective after three hours, and for others, just the thought of being around them dents your mood. I know this will sound very obvious to the logical side of our brain but something as important as protecting your mental space we tend not to give it the consideration it deserves. For healthy living, most of us would not willingly consume lousy food on a consistent basis. At all times we want the best nutrients and
fuel for our bodies for peak performance. That same thinking applies to your mind space we need to protect it zealously.
How? Be aware what you feed it. We’re all different and get affected adversely by different things. I know one thought leader who goes as far as not to read newspapers or watch the news at all. He protects his mental garden against weeds at all cost. If
we want to feel good - the best state to be in for optimal performance, then it's our responsibility To find strategies to achieve that. For me feeling good is a priority. I am not a master at this by any means, but my focus is to feel good as much as possible. Even the shit I don't enjoy but I know is essential, I appreciate the process and squeeze whatever good feeling I can get from it. Music, food, physical exercise, comics, books, film and friends, all help me to keep We all
need every advantage available to us, and we can't afford to be sentimental. If it's not helping, its hindering.
Hope this Helps
