He Who Feels it, Knows it - Robbing Me of my Experiences Should be a Crime

I see this all around me, and my heart sinks. Parents smother children so much they are cheated of any chance to experience failure. College and High School graduates are afraid to leave the comfort of their parent's homes to gain experience in the big wide world.

From my time on the earth plane, I’ve come across two types of people when it comes to how we experience the world. A small minority can learn mainly from other people’s mistakes. They are skilled at internalizing someone else's experience as if it was their own while the vast majority of us have to experience challenges first-hand to benefit from them.

Facing problems are good. Handling problems are important. Overcoming problems are even better.

When you find yourself desiring to keep people from the pain or heartache of a problem, think twice. You might be doing them a favor by letting them experience the problem. They are on a path to growth after all.

Like sex, some things require your direct involvement to experience it and benefit from it. No manner of vicarious preparation will help in that regards. You need to have an orgasm to know and enjoy it. And there are quite a few things that are like that and cannot be replaced without the doing.
Luckily we don't have to experience everything first hand, but for some things, it's necessary and important.

I Don't usually follow the crowd but experience is telling me......

I talk to a lot of would-be writers, who have heard the stories of these wunderkind authors whose very first efforts propelled them into stardom. Not in so many words but they ask for help so they can navigate the uncertainty, monotony, frustration, and rejection most writers go through.

But why do they ask that, Anton? Why not get on with paying the price?

They ask because they want to be spared the pain that is required to achieve the goal. It’s normal to feel like that, human nature even. It’s just not reality.

I couldn’t save them the experience even if I wanted to.

My answer to them is to embrace the challenges, gain the experience and come to terms with the fact there are no shortcuts. To learn my craft and to learn your craft you have to go through the experience process. Even when I know before hand the triumphs and failures you'll be inevitable facing, I will never rob you of that experience.

It will only make you stronger.

When I think about experience, invariably travel and its benefits to how you perceive the world, come to the forefront of my mind. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the cultures, lifestyles and philosophies of our little planet. And it does wonders for who you are as a person. Even if world travel is not possible for you at the moment, your local area with its history and geography has opportunities for you to learn and gain new insights. The idea is to add to your bank of experience through adventure and freedom.
