Excellence is a Decision — Unknown
Very few people make truly committed decisions. And I think one of the reasons why, outside of fearing the responsibility behind
making a committed decision, its that fear of not being able to carry it out. Make no mistake, decisions such as these aren't the vapid, weak; 'I’ll try', kind of pronouncements. I’ll try, will not produce the world beating results you’re looking for. That sentiment hasn’t got the stamina or power to make a difference. On the other hand, the committed decisions take preparation and planning. Something as important as this, can’t be done without due care. Firstly, you need to answer an essential
question first. Do I have a growth mindset? What is the point of deciding to make progress in your life if deep down you believe you cannot change? For decisions to make any sense at all, you need to know you can grow as a person. Know that you are prepared to handle the challenges. Whenever you commit to achieving anything outside of your comfort zone, it is going to require growth. I am who I am, B.S! You are a fluid, malleable being with the potential to achieve great
things. And the starting point is your belief in the truth of that. Stupid-ass decisions are part of life When I decided to increase my productivity as a writer, I made a committed decision to do it and knew I’d have to learn and apply new strategies to get the results I was looking for. I also knew that I'd hit some brick walls. I just believed they were lessons I need to learn to better and were not a sign to give up or a measure of my self-worth. It’s a package deal. I struggled with it. I was writing
A book every one and a half to two years. The process was nothing more than a bad habit that I had fallen into and it would take a new kind of thinking to get me out. I found the information I needed - and began to understand that any problem can be resolved at the cost of either time or money. I applied what I had learned and with some false starts, and rejigging I started seeing results. I just had to believe I’m was able to expand to meet the challenge. This is how to predict the path
of your life. Through the choice of decisions, you make every day. Make them count.
Try This This is just a simple mental exercise in future scoping you can play with. Is there something that you've wanted to do but never have. Let's say it's to travel more often. In your head lets make that decision and lets
follow through with it. Picture the positive difference it will make in your life tomorrow. A week from now. A year from now. Feel the exhilaration and the changes to your life and then ask yourself, what am I waiting for? Decide and commit.
RECOMMENDED READ
The book uncovers the differences between two core mindsets, the fixed mindset and the growth mindset. Through analysis, research and experience the author sets out to prove that the growth mindset leads to a more fulfilling and successful life. While a fixed mindset limits what is possible for you because of the belief that you cannot be changed or developed. Flipping the coin from negative to positive can have a dramatic effect on
your life.
