Sexual energy is the most powerful human energy at our disposal. It is an energy that creates life and maintains emotional health. I came across this principle in my younger years. I was obviously unfamiliar with this idea until I read about it in the personal development classic Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. I devoured the book, but the chapter on Sex Transmutation didn't make sense to me on a gut level at the time. I comprehended the words and knew it was one of the metaphysical departures from the more practical advice in the book, but the real meaning eluded me. 

Sex energy is responsible for our enthusiasm, passion, and commitment and how we present ourselves to the world. Success and Happiness feeds off this energy. Increasing the Oxytocin level in our brain makes us feel fantastic. Becoming aware of the benefits of transmuting this energy, enables us to achieve the life we dream of, ‘the alchemy of success, turning mediocrity into genius.’ Napoleon Hill

At the time I just couldn't understand why Napoleon Hill surmised that men seldom succeeded before forty - Apologies to my sisters for the predominantly male references in these old texts. These universal principles apply to men and women, but this was written at a time when women and black people were struggling for recognition in America. Not much as has changed it seems.

But of course the more experienced I became the more I understood where he was coming from and what I was doing wrong. Years ago I started to see how I used the powerful energy of desire in the pursuit of sex alone and not transferring it into different forms that  I required to achieve my goals. If Napoleon Hill himself had taught me what I needed to do, I would have a hard time listening because I was having too much fun to listen. It's like what that Zen proverb states: When the student is ready. the master will appear.

I get it now.

Those were great times but having a strategy that I could use to turbo charge my results would have been good to have. I have since come to realize that sex is creative energy and it can be re-purposed to any task that you wish to have an impact in.

As usual, I'm late to the game but I've been applying this principle successfully for many years, and the results are amazing.

Have you ever met someone whose handshake is firm and strong, their voice is confident and clear. Their eyes are sharp and alert. And their minds challenging. They have an all over magnetism that is hard to ignore.

That's Sex Transmutation at work, baby. And all that is on an interpersonal basis.

What about your work, your vocation, your passions.

Strangely, writing about relationships and sex within my stories, has been sex transmutation in action. I get to explore every aspect of my characters especially their sex lives. The ability to delve into the physical act itself or express the effects it has on the world the characters inhabit, is powerful. I love it, my readers love it and I'm not one to argue. It has made my writing crackle and it can only get better.

One of the books that opened up my eyes to a kind of truthful writing style that I have embraced in my writing life was the autobiographical Pimp written by the legendary Iceberg Slim. The phrase 'Keeping it real' had 'Slim' in mind when it was being coined. He wrote about aspects of the human condition especially the plight of the black community in the 50's and 60's that is still prevalent today. It was a worts and all exposé, that although uncomfortable in parts was a powerful hook. He permitted me to follow suite. What I didn't know were the benefits it would have on my work and life. Napoleon Hill and Iceberg Slim. Unlikely bedfellows but I'm glad I found them both.
