To begin is easy, to persist is art

I think, one of the most important qualities a writer can have
is persistence. Truth be told iexceptional achievement just cannot happen without it.
Any one who has birthed an idea in the form of a book, film or business and offered it to the world, will appreciate the strength required to start again if your work wasn't met with glowing reviews. It takes a special kind of person to come back, time and time again from rejection. But with passion and belief you too can be apart of this lofty club but the price is high.
This filmmaker got me
thinking because he was willing to pay it.
Almost two decades ago a young filmmaker set Hollywood alight with his debut film. I loved it and so did millions of other people around the world. Spurred on with his initial success, he kept making films, each one filled with his signature creativity and flair. But not everything was receiving the critical acclaim as his first work had. The critics smelt blood and began questioning his talents and genius. Tinsel Town can be an unforgiving place
and as the rumours spread about his diminishing appeal, the former Toast of the Town kept creating, kept directing, even when the industry movers and shakers were giving him the cold shoulder.
From 1999 to the present he never stopped grinding and today he has a psychological thriller Split, made for $9 Million and grossing $40.3 at the box office so far. M Night Shyamalan persisted. He turned his setbacks into a comeback.
