What if the next Einstein, Curie, or Lao Tzu was born in Africaâtoday? What philosophies would they craft? What technologies would they create? How would their ethics reshape our global future?
In this month's
competition, we're asking you to envision a future African philosopher, scientist, or leader who revolutionizes thought, technology, or global ethics in the year 2100 and beyond.
Â
Challenge Details:
Create a speculative essay and/or image that brings to life a visionary African mind who has shaped the world through wisdom,
invention, or leadership. Your entry should answer:
Who are they? What do they believe or build? And how does the world respond?
Â
How to Enter:
Choose one or both submission formats:
đ Short Essay (300 words
max): Write a speculative biography or profile that describes the person's life, contributions, and impact on the future. Think of it like a future Wikipedia entry or an award speech at a global summit.
Â
đš Visual Portrait (optional): Create an image of this future thinker, innovator, or changemaker. You can draw it, paint it, or use AI tools to generate a portrait. Feel free to
annotate with symbols, tech wearables, or cultural elements that represent their values or field.
Â
Judging Criteria:
Vision and Originality: How bold and imaginative is your vision of the future influencer?
Cultural Depth:
How well does your entry reflect African heritage in a future-forward context?
Impact and Relevance: Does the characterâs work affect global systems (ethics, AI, energy, politics, etc.)?
Artistic and Narrative Quality: For images, how visually thoughtful is the piece? For essays, how well-written and compelling is the
profile?
