Most people want quick hacks. Productivity cheats. Or the secret tool that makes their life ‘flow’. But here’s the real truth: you can’t optimise a life you haven’t studied. You can’t level up if you haven’t first looked inward and asked, How best do I work?
And I don’t just mean my schedule.
I mean—when do you feel most like you?
What do you do when no one is watching? What environments sharpen you? What moments keep repeating like glitches in your matrix—tripping you up or pushing you forward?
These aren’t just questions. They’re data points. And if you collect enough of them, you start to see your personal blueprint emerging. I’ve learned I’m not a traditional ‘daily writer’, although I do write every day. I’m more of an immersive one. When I’m in a story, I’m in it like a storm. I’ll write for days like a man possessed. But once the wave passes, my energy lowers, and I begin to replenish myself - it’s the natural ebb and flow of a story. I think
my readers can sense it too. That slowing down process used to make me feel like a failure. Now, I honour it. That’s the thing about awareness—it kills shame. And what replaces shame?
Precision.
You stop guessing what works for you. You start building your life, your art, your relationships around the truth of your wiring.
Not the persona. Not the performative productivity. The real you.
I love when my writing can inform my real life. In speculative fiction, I build worlds from scratch. Rules. Physics. Culture. Power structures. But here’s the twist—if I don’t understand the world I live in—me—then all that world building is just escapism. Radical self-awareness pulls me back to Basecamp. It reminds me
that I am the project. My habits, my reactions, my highs and crashes, are not random. They’re messages. Systems. Clues.
One of the most empowering shifts I made was treating myself like a character I was developing, not judging, just observing. And asking the question, what’s my arc? What’s my default mode under stress? My power moves when I’m aligned?
You can do the same, Gentle reader. You’re not lazy. You’re not broken. You’re not behind. You just haven’t studied your own rhythms like a scientist would. That’s where it starts.
Because once you know the terrain, you can build the map.
Radical self-awareness isn’t soft. It’s survival, especially for those of
us building from the margins. We don’t get the luxury of generic advice. We need tailored blueprints rooted in truth, not trends.
Here’s my challenge to you: track your energy. Your flow. Your flame. One week. Be curious. What lifts you? What drains you? What patterns keep whispering? Does this process work for me?
Build your systems from that. Write your story from that. Parent, love, create, heal—from that.
Not from what the world told you to do.
Be the person you should be after you stop pretending.
And that, my friend, makes life 10x easier—not
because you’re coasting, but because you finally stopped resisting yourself.
Peace, love and power.
