That's your edge.
We're often told to study the greats, to follow proven paths to success. But here's the truth: while learning from others is valuable, mimicry is a trap. I know this may be a weakness, but I don't read these elaborate biographies that map the highs and
lows of an individual's life - from birth to death. I don't want to be unduly influenced by their path. The world doesn't need another copy of someone else's success story. It requires your story, your perspective, and your way of solving problems.
I broke all the "rules when I started writing my newsletter." I mixed speculative concepts with down-home wisdom. I wrote about quantum physics and 'rice an peas' in the same
paragraph. Some folks said I was "diluting my brand." But those very combinations became my signature. Why? Because they were authentically me.
Here's your practical takeaway for 2025: Start a dialogue with yourself. Not the self you show on LinkedIn or Instagram, but your authentic self. What excites you? What questions keep you curious? What unique combinations of interests and experiences make you?
Make this dialogue regular. Create space to hear your thoughts through journaling, voice notes, or quiet reflection during your morning coffee. Don't judge them, don't edit them – just let them breathe.
The beautiful paradox is this: The more you focus on being authentically yourself, the more your work resonates with others. When I stopped trying to write for a mythical "target audience"
and started writing from my truth, my newsletter subscriber count grew. People connect with authenticity, even if they don't share your exact experiences.
As we step into 2025, forget about conquering the world. Instead, focus on conquering the noise that keeps you from being you. The world doesn't need another polished, perfect performance. It requires your unique perspective, your weird combinations, and your
authentic voice.
Do you, family. Do you unapologetically, consistently and joyfully. That's not just how you'll survive 2025 – it's how you'll make it yours.
Happy New Year.
Peace, love and power.
