Joshua N'Gon: Last Prince of Alkebulahn.
Not all of you are writers, artists or filmmakers, but every human being is a creative who needs inspiration. So it’s not just about overt
creatives such as myself. It’s about living a life that feels alive with possibility. Whether you’re crunching numbers in a cubicle, teaching third graders, or running your own business, finding the magic in the every day can transform how you experience your world.
Here’s a secret that took me years to learn: creativity isn’t about making something from nothing. It’s about seeing what’s already there in a new way. That
spreadsheet you’re dreading? It’s telling a story about growth and possibility. That difficult conversation you need to have? It’s a chance to rewrite an old narrative. That problem that keeps you up at night? It’s just a plot twist waiting for your unique solution.
Some days, I sit down to write, but nothing comes. The words feel forced, and the ideas stale. But instead of beating myself up about it (like I used to), I’ve
learned to see these moments differently. They’re not creative blocks – but invitations to look closer at the world around me. I notice how the squirrel scurries up the tree outside my window, how the hot chocolate steam curls in the morning air, and how an orange moon casts its light on rain-soaked concrete.
The truth is, inspiration isn’t something that happens to you – it’s something you cultivate. It’s in the way you choose
to see the world. The most ordinary moment can become extraordinary if you look at it with the right eyes.
That’s not just writer talk – that’s life talk.
So here’s my challenge to you this week: Find the magic in one ordinary moment each day. Maybe it’s the way your child’s eyes light up when they tell you about their day. Perhaps it’s the perfect swirl
in your morning coffee. Maybe it’s the rhythm of your breathing as you tackle that problematic project. Whatever it is, pause. Notice it. Let it remind you that magic isn’t something we find – it’s something we create by paying attention.
Because here’s the real truth, family: the most powerful stories, the most meaningful moments, the most transformative ideas – they’re not out there somewhere waiting to be discovered. They’re
right here, woven into the fabric of your everyday life. You just have to be brave enough to see them.
Until next week, keep finding the magic in the mundane.
Peace, love and power.
