Check out my Sci-Fi Novella - Omega Point
The "flow state" - is when you're so absorbed in an activity that your sense of self dissolves. Time passes differently as you merge with
the process. Flow states stimulate creative thinking and innovative problem-solving due to the deep focus they promote. It leads to unique perspectives and generates novel solutions. Flow states are linked to "peak performance" because it's easier to engage in tasks for enjoyment and challenge than it is for external rewards. Athletes describe this as "being in the zone", but it can happen with any pursuit from art to accounting if you have a true passion.
Now, that is satisfaction.
The key is giving yourself permission to unapologetically pursue what captivates you, even if it doesn't fit conventional narratives of a "dream job" or "making it big". Those societal pressures often blind us to the simple joys and satisfaction of indulging our genuine interests and playing to our innate strengths.
A purely
outcome-obsessed life is overwhelming.
I need to be able to enthusiastically explore weird, genre-bending storytelling ideas that may not be the trend but allow me to frolic through realms of imagination few others conceive. Your version could be anything from diving deep into niche hobbies to eccentric modes of self-expression.
The common thread is tuning into
your inner sources of curiosity, creativity, and yearning for exploration and growth. What activities make you lose track of time because you're so engaged? Those are your pathways to presence, purpose, and a quieting of the self-criticism.
You will be satisfied just by being you.
Don't get it twisted: I'm not encouraging complacency or unaccountability. Pursuing excellence and
craftsmanship should still be a priority. But I believe that by giving my full attention to the task, the desired outcome—the success metric I require—will more likely follow.
So rebel against the toxic voices telling you you're not enough and should relentlessly grind toward some contrived, conventional future self. Get radically present and embrace who you are and what you do. That's where the deepest wells of meaning,
joy and self-respect reside.
Be Your Own Hero.
