Before you tear me a new one, I’m using the term’ Evil Plans’ rather loosely. I’m referring to unique or genius ideas that have or will make a positive significance in our world. We tend to think of the prominent examples, but there are so many not-so-known ‘Evil Plans’ being created from all parts of the world in equal measure. They are being applied and benefitting a handful of people on a local scale or millions of people on a global scale. What fascinates me about these creators is the characters behind the groundbreaking ideas.

Creators Don't Separate from their Work because they are their work.

Why are they so misunderstood?
Why do they love their own company?
How do they develop these concepts while most of us struggle to look outside the box we’ve trapped ourselves in?
I sound like I’m being judgmental, Gentle Reader, but I’m not. There is always an opportunity to change our course in life, but that comfort zone keeps us trapped. Sadly, the majority of us will succumb to the fear and uncertainty of stepping out and will remain where we are.

Once, there was a time when you knew the essence of wonder. In those distant childhood days, you flew kites, rolled down hills, made snow angels, succumbed to uncontrollable laughter, and lay in the grass, entranced by a dewdrop clinging to a single strand of grass.
But, with time, you matured, attended school, and were taught to sit still, remain silent, and conform. Perhaps the most damaging lesson was the quest for approval—for who doesn’t yearn for the gold stars, the approving checks, the teacher’s beaming smile, or the accolades?

Add to this the disdain from unforgiving relatives, the spiteful neighbour, the playground tyrants parroting the critical nonsense overheard from their parents. Cruelty is a taught behaviour, a lesson ill-learned from those adults who should be wiser yet often are not.And so, with creeping slowness, the light within you begins to fade. It was a gradual dimming, akin to a sunset, so imperceptible that no one seemed to notice, least of all you.

But these individuals kept the light on against all odds. Architects of innovation often share a common thread of being vastly misunderstood. They are frequently perceived as reclusive or eccentric, preferring solitude over the cacophony of social gatherings. It’s in the quiet, in the space where others find discomfort in the silence, that they find inspiration.

But why are they misunderstood? Perhaps it’s because their visions are so bold, so out of the ordinary, that they disrupt the status quo. They challenge our norms, question our routines, and in doing so, they often isolate themselves from the mainstream. It’s not that they wish to be solitary by nature; rather, their intense focus and relentless pursuit of their ‘Evil Plan’ demands a certain degree of isolation.

The love of their own company is not so much a love as it is a necessity. It’s in the silence that they hear the faint whisper of innovation. Ideas, after all, are shy creatures, often drowned out by the noise of everyday life. These visionaries nurture an environment where thoughts can bloom without distraction and where they can dedicate themselves wholly to their plans.

How, then, do they conceive ideas that the rest of us might never stumble upon? It’s not an inherent ability that separates these thinkers from the rest, but rather a distinct approach to life. They see the world not just for what it is but for what it could be.

These creators often possess an intense curiosity that knows no bounds. They read widely, think deeply, and are not afraid to dive into disciplines that are not theirs. Their ‘Evil Plans’ are rarely born out of a desire for personal gain or recognition. Instead, they are driven by a compelling urge to solve a problem, to fill a gap, to make something better, or to bring joy where there was none. Their motivation is rooted in impact rather than accolade.

These individuals—the dreamers, thinkers, and creators—are the unsung heroes of progress. They are the ones who dare to envision a different world and, through their ‘Evil Plans’, take the small steps or giant leaps towards making it a reality.

As you will have guessed, I’m a fan of these quiet revolutionaries. Their work often goes unrecognized, but it’s these very ‘Evil Plans’ that hold the potential to shape our lives in ways we can hardly imagine. They remind us that in the heart of what we might initially resist or fear often lies the seeds of positive change, growth, and, ultimately, a better world for all.
