If Your Path is Different it Doesn't Mean You Are Lost.

If you’re at this stage in your journey, then you’ve asked yourself the questions, you’ve researched your passions, and you’ve gone out and taken action. Through trial and error, you’ve decided on a path, a goal you’re committed to, and set off.

From my experience, the only way you can know for sure is how it makes you feel. I’m not talking about some Pollyanna ideal of being happy every step along your path, with no challenges and frustrations, a smooth, unencumbered run. You’ve been with me long enough to know that is not how life works.

Finding and following the path that enables you to live the life you want comes with its challenges, but you have a big goal for your life. Even when the winds of fate are buffeting you, the feedback you experience from the universe is a reminder that your ladder is leaning against the correct wall.

So what feedback should I look for that tells me my path is correct?

You have an underlying sense of meaning, purpose, and fulfilment. Even when things get complicated, you feel you’re working towards something worthwhile. Your challenges feel like growth opportunities, not like pointless struggles.

You may experience moments of doubt or frustration but quickly regain perspective and recommit. Your passion for your goal outweighs temporary setbacks. You feel like you’re on a journey of discovery about yourself and the world.

The right path stretches you but doesn’t break you. It energises more than it exhausts. It brings out your best self. You surround yourself with people who support your aims. Your work gives you a sense of contribution.

The right path isn’t always clearly marked, but you’ll recognise the signs when you see them. Maybe it’s the surge of energy you feel when you’ve been working hard on a project connected to your mission. Or the sense of ease and rightness when making decisions aligned with your values.

You might notice small wins stacking up, like positive comments from colleagues or new opportunities opening up. These are signals you’re headed where you’re meant to go.

There are bad and good days, but you have more inspiration, creativity, and flow moments. Time both drags and flies because you’re engaged in work that feels meaningful.

You find yourself wanting to get up earlier or stay later because you believe in what you’re doing. Your mind works on problems related to your aims even when you’re not “on the clock.”

People who care about you remark on your determination. You’ve finally found the work you were made for. You have more energy for family and friends at home because you aren’t drained by work. You’re excited about the future in a way you weren’t before. Trust those signals. They are the guideposts revealing you’ve found your right path. Keep following where they lead.
