The questions I asked myself went something like this:
Why go ahead and do something if you canât be the best in the world? Itâs a waste of time.
Or the other one.
If you canât be financially independent from your efforts, why bother? Donât punish yourself.
Thatâs the kind of shit your mind will tell you is a perfect excuse to do nothing. If you donât have a disciplined mind, it will lead you down a dead-end road of endless procrastination. Take it from me; Iâve been
there. I realised early that just because you think it doesnât make it true.
You must discipline your mind, or it will discipline you.
I wouldnât be here if I waited for the perfect moment to take action.
To wait for the stars to align, for the right circumstances to manifest, and for my life to become flawless before we begin pursuing my dreams. That is a recipe for mediocrity. The key to unlocking your true potential lies in embracing imperfection and starting now? As a black speculative fiction author, Iâve experienced firsthand the power of taking action in the face of closed doors and ridicule. That rejection seemed to magnify the challenges and my insecurities, but I took the plunge even
with the self-doubt and my fears that the publishing world would never accept me. Iâm saying that if I can take action, so can you.
The results from your actions may not be phenomenal at first, but the magic is not just in the result but in the process. Whatever you have decided to do with your life, and if you believe in it with your whole heart,
then your results are just a part of the equation, not THE equation.
The world needs you, every single part of you.
It requires your courageous spirit and willingness to face challenges head-on. It craves
the audacious, ambitious, fearless, and relentless version of yourself.
Donât wait for perfection; take action, become engaged and just do.Â
