I was in my late twenties when I decided I wanted to write, and that's when it all came together. I began making money from my creativity - peanuts at first, but
more than just the finances, the buzz from working in my passion was second to none.
Passion is one of the most elusive and sought-after feelings in life.
That deep, burning desire propels us forward and makes us feel truly alive. But for many people, finding their ultimate passion can seem like an impossible feat. If you're feeling lost and unsure about what truly drives you, don't worry – you're not alone. I guess I was lucky to find my passion early, but here are five paths you can use to find your own at any stage of life.
1. Follow your curiosity
Curiosity is a powerful force that can lead you down unexpected paths. What interests you? What questions do you have about the world? Pursue those interests and questions with an open mind, and see where they take you. Maybe you'll discover a new hobby or interest, or perhaps you'll stumble upon a career that you never considered
before. You'll take the first step towards discovering your ultimate passion by following your curiosity.
2. Lean into your
strengths.
What are you naturally good at? What comes easy to you? Often, our passions are rooted in our strengths. For example, if you're a
natural communicator, you might find that you're most passionate about public speaking or writing. You might find your passion in data analysis or problem-solving if you're an analytical thinker. Take stock of your strengths and consider how you can leverage them to pursue your passions.
3. Embrace your values
What matters most to you? What do you stand for? Our passions are often tied to our values. If you're passionate about social justice, for example, you might find fulfilment in a career that allows you to advocate for marginalized communities. If you're passionate about sustainability, you might find your calling in a job that focuses on renewable energy or eco-friendly
practices. By aligning your passions with your values, you'll be able to pursue your ultimate passion with purpose and meaning.
4. Experiment with
new experiences
Sometimes, our passions are hidden beneath layers of fear and uncertainty. We might hesitate to pursue something new because we
fear failure or rejection. But by trying new experiences, we can break through those fears and discover passions we never knew we had. Take a class in something you've never tried before, join a new club, or even travel to a new place. Exposing yourself to new experiences will open yourself up to a world of possibilities.
5. Listen to your heart.
Finally, listening to your heart is the most important path to discovering your ultimate passion. What makes you feel truly alive? What brings you joy and fulfilment? It's easy to get caught up in what society expects of us or what our friends and family think is best for us. But the only person who truly knows what you're meant to do is you. Trust your instincts, and don't be
afraid to pursue your passions with all your heart.
Regardless of money, regardless of time, regardless of anything, I'm in this for the long haul.
Uncover the passion that will fuel your life's work. Remember, it's never too late to start pursuing them – so take the first step today and see where your journey takes you.
