Going Against the Grain
In a world that often rewards conformity, going against the grain can seem risky. But the truth is that the people who dare to be different often make the greatest impact.
Think of some of the most successful and
influential people in history. People like Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, Marcus Garvey and Martin Luther King Jr. These were individuals who challenged the status quo, questioned the norm and charted new territory. And for their contribution, they were fired, ridiculed, character assassinated and murdered. Haters come with the territory, unfortunately. Thank God these great men and women felt compelled to do what must be done even when naysayers assaulted their bodies and
reputations.
When you go against the grain, prepare for the haters and also the new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities. You become more creative and innovative and will likely develop breakthrough ideas that can change your world.
Being a Little Naughty
Of course, going against the grain doesn't mean you should be reckless
or irresponsible. But it does mean that you should be willing to take risks and push the boundaries of what's considered "acceptable." I'm not going to lie; I'm not comfortable with it, but I know a part of me needs to be expressed.
Being naughty can help you break out of your comfort zone and tap into your inner rebel. It can help you shed the constraints of conformity and explore new ways of thinking and being.
Whether it's speaking your mind when everyone else is staying silent, trying something new that others are too afraid to attempt, or breaking a few rules in pursuit of your dreams, being a little naughty can be a powerful force for personal growth and transformation. I may be shy, but I still write sexy characters and enjoy being explicit if it helps to propel the story or humanise the character in the reader's eyes.
Striving for Excellence
Not everyone's pursuit of excellence will look the same. But we all share the desire to be the best we can be, constantly improve, and never settle for mediocrity.
When you strive for excellence, you challenge yourself to be better every day. You set high standards for yourself and work tirelessly to meet and exceed them. This isn't
work; this is your passion.
Moving Through the World with Grace
Combining the willingness to go against the grain, the courage to be a little naughty, and the commitment to strive for excellence creates a potent recipe for success. You become someone who stands out from the crowd, is not afraid to take risks, and is constantly growing and improving.
And when you embody these qualities, you also move through the world with more grace. You become more confident, self-assured, and comfortable in your skin.
You develop a sense of ease and poise that comes from knowing that you are living your life on your own terms. You become a force to be reckoned with, someone who is not easily deterred or discouraged. You will be recognised for this in your circles - close to home or
worldwide. The man in the street may not know your contribution, but you will and for me, that's the greatest feeling in the world.
Be Your Own Hero.
