Â
The crowd doesnât want to push out of their
comfort zone. They donât want to feel vulnerable, uncertain, and even afraid. They know it will ultimately lead to growth, learning, and self-discovery, but they either canât be asked or they are shit scared to fail.
Â
If we are not faced with obstacles or motivated to push ourselves, then we are unlikely to make an effort to improve. Without experiencing resistance or challenges, people tend to remain within their comfort zone and avoid putting themselves in vulnerable situations. And because of that, they do not reach their maximum potential or develop into a better version of
themselves.
Â
If youâre not afraid of the hard things, you will never worry about the competition because most people aim for the easiest path by doing the
minimum required. They are content with being average and do not strive for excellence. They are prone to giving up quickly and abandoning their aspirations at the drop of a hat.
Â
So how do you break the mould and prioritise the hard things?Â
Â
- Embrace discomfort: The hard things are
uncomfortable, but discomfort is not necessarily a bad thing. Itâs a sign that youâre pushing yourself beyond your limits and challenging yourself to grow. Embrace discomfort and see it as an opportunity to learn and improve.
- Identify your limiting beliefs.
Take a moment to reflect on the beliefs you live by. These may be beliefs about yourself, others, or the world around you. Make sure they benefit you.
- Set goals that push you to grow and achieve more than you thought possible. Donât settle for
mediocrity.
- Take massive action.
- Recognise failure for what it is - a natural part of growth.Â
- Surround yourself with people who support and encourage your growth. Seek mentors, coaches, and like-minded individuals who will challenge you to be
your best self.
- Celebrate your successes no matter how small they may be. Recognise and acknowledge your hard work and progress, then keep pushing.
Â
Breaking the mould requires that we do hard things - both external challenges that are thrust upon us and those we thrust upon ourselves. By facing these challenges head-on, we develop the skills, qualities, and mindset
necessary for achieving greatness. So donât shy away from the hard things in life. Embrace them, and use them to grow, learn, and become the best version of yourself.
