Real life looks completely different.
Ā
You can achieve the above results, but the steep price required is not for everyone. Iām not saying there arenāt individuals who are as disciplined as
Shaolin Monks, who maintain their standards no matter what, but they are the exception and personally boring. If thatās a route to success you want to pursue, then I wonāt be the one to stand in your way; itās just not how I flex.
Ā
There are ways for you to have fulfilment in your life without the radical philosophy. Nothing I do would exclude anyone from following in my footsteps. In that respect, Iām unremarkable. At this very moment, my
desk is a mess. Iāll get around to organising it, but Iāve accepted it as a 3-D representation of my brainās untidy architecture š§ .
No biggie.
My writing process is disciplined and yet messy. I do my very best but do not stress about perfection. The idea is getting it done, not getting it perfect. Some weeks I get up early, although I love working late. But most weeks, I get up when Iām rested. I exercise
most days, but there are times when I donāt. I read and write daily. Most proper writers would scoff at my daily word count on some days. Who cares?š I give to charitable causes as much as I can. I have a busy lifestyle, so there are things that I must sacrifice so I can continue to do what is important to me. Perfection is boring, my progression is messy, and thatās the way I like it.
Ā
All Iām saying, Gentle Reader, is you donāt need to be
superhuman to get better every day. Self-improvement isnāt about perfection. Itās not about impressive morning routines or four-minute miles. Itās about you getting better at your own pace, making memories and having some fun along the way.
Ā
The Self Help industry isnāt hot on having fun, but itās essential. Itās so easy to get caught up in what someone else is doing and how they are succeeding, but the truth is that the focus needs to be on
your growth, not thereās. That has nothing to do with you.Ā
Enjoy the journey.
Ā
Wake up when your rested, plan your day but embrace the chaos that will appear. Do what you want to do at your pace and delegate the rest. Spend time working on your passions, contributing in some big or small way to the world and laugh some more.Ā
Ā
Be your own hero.
