I’ve noticed something about some of my older friends that has me worried, not about me but about them. Being around them, I’m getting an uncomfortable vibe, especially when I get optimistic about life and its possibilities. I think I know what it is. They may not be saying it directly, but their reactions to any suggestion of doing more, achieving more, or being more are discounted or ridiculed. My friends began to believe they were too old to prosper or too late to start something new.

After all, it seems like everyone has already grabbed the opportunities existing. It looks like the universe can’t cater for you anymore.
And the only option you have is to just give up. Go with the flow. Or let life sail on its own.
This is dangerous thinking.

I hope my friends can see me as an example that it’s not true. You can find yourself in the best position of your life because you have lived life.

I know sometimes it feels like, In this world, only the young have any hope. You are too old for everything by the time you are 25. If you haven’t done it — wrote a hit song, topped the bestsellers list, won a gold medal, it’s almost as if it’s over for you.
I’m not sure why society is hellbent on trying to convince you that you’re contributions are no longer required. When your experience is needed more than ever.

No matter what the vocal few think, It’s never too late to shape your own life — do what makes you happy. The party is open to everyone just as long as we are willing to step out of our comfort zone.

When you step into the club that is life, you’re bombarded with light and sound, representing all the opportunity that is open to you. Some of us will embrace it, but unfortunately, most will be overwhelmed by it. You will be at an advantage if you’re old enough or wise enough because you’ve seen it all before.

There’s nothing the DJ can drop on the decks that would surprise you. You’ve heard it before, done it and bought the T-Shirt.

So never discount the adventures you’ve been through because they will set you apart from the competition. Don’t ever be like the partygoers who stand or sit on the fringes of the nightclub, commenting, criticising or forever pondering whether to join the brave souls strutting their stuff on the dance floor. The dancers are the ones who are fully experiencing life, taking risks and striving to be better. And if you’ve been dancing long enough, you pick up the steps of some of the moves you thought you could never master. All through developing powerful habits of observation and practice.

Don’t believe the hype of it being too late. Don’t fool yourself into thinking it’s not for you. Don’t get trapped into inaction by comparing yourself to your peers. Use that comparison as a spur and get on the dance floor.
You’re never too late. It’s your attitude that’s important.
