Being average is my greatest fear.
And it’s not an ego thing. I’ve been blessed with this life and given so many opportunities for growth, so it’s my responsibility to make this life a grand performance. But the shift from ordinary to extraordinary is not just one big shift; it’s made up of many little shifts. My biggest and costliest mistakes have been when I follow popular opinion and not my inner compass. Maybe that’s why I’m interested in people who don’t follow the pack.
In today’s world, most people prefer the homogeneousness of the crowd. They feel it could be risky if they stand out and be different. I just don’t see it that way. We’re all unique individuals with our own thoughts and views about the world. Our differences set us apart from the crowd. What we need to do is celebrate them. I’m not saying we should strive to be different just because we can. Let’s not be afraid to be ourselves. To show others who you really
are.
It’s difficult to know if you are charting your own path because of traditional and social media noise everywhere. You’re being bombarded by messages telling you how you should live. Most people subscribe to this but not you. So how do you keep yourself from falling in step with the masses? It’s a simple question to ask yourself - and you know I’m all about simplicity. The question is:
What pursuits or opportunities are you committed to daily that most people would have given up on or opted out of years ago?
Follow your inner voice, no matter what society says about it. Your inner voice is your higher self, encouraging you to take action. You have nothing to prove to another, but you have everything to prove to yourself. Get out there, leave your comfort zone behind in the dust, take a leap of faith and ignore what the crowd says. It’s scary as shit, but I promise you, it is the most liberating thing you can ever do for yourself.
