Jack has this thing about being 100% responsible for who you are, which I used to build upon my parents’ philosophy.
Having complete control over your life and not at the expense of stepping or climbing on others to reach new heights speaks volumes of a person’s character
It baffles me how people today give control of their life to their jobs, to their bosses, to a paycheck, having people think for them, do for them, speak for them…BE FOR THEM
But they can’t bring themselves to take the reigns of their own life.
What Mom and Dad lacked in formal education, they made up for with a fearlessness that I admire to this day.
With all the disadvantages my parents experienced in Jamaica and the UK, they never saw themselves as victims. They controlled what they could, and everything else, as far as they were concerned, was in gods hands.
Like my parents, I know I have my friends and family for support but suppose I didn’t. Suppose the world was against me, and if that was the case, it’s a simple reminder that I am all I have in life. I’m enough.
And you can only get there by striving to be self-reliant.
Take responsibility for everything in your life, including successes, failures, mistakes, happiness and misery. Once you realise that you can do something about these experiences, you will never feel trapped again.
If we all took responsibility for our lives and set on improving ourselves, what a transformation we could make to the world.
Make a commitment to change your life from this point forward. Learn self-reliance to stand proud and strong even if life or society is crumbling around you. Your freedom is under attack but you, constant reader, are a rock. Never relent until you can stand on your own two feet.
