So how do you improve your luck?
First, realise it’s not something that’s on the outside. Improving your luck is an inside game, and the sooner you realise that, the better.
Luck is not about passively waiting for good things to happen but being an active participant in your own life.
Ok, so you got that.
Let’s start off.
Keep Getting Better
Constant and never-ending improvement - CANI, was instrumental in helping the Japanese industrial economy recover and succeed after the end of World War Two. What can be applied to a nation can be applied to an individual.
Try to improve 1% a day.
It turns out if you don’t improve, you decline. This is based on research in almost every area of life where there are peak performers: sports, music, chess, entrepreneurs, art, etc. I like to apply it to life in general. I want to be world-class in life. But I’ll settle with being better than yesterday.
Keep Being Busy
So you increase your odds of success by improving your skills, but still, it doesn’t guarantee what you want, but it helps immensely. What we need next is the discipline to keep consistently working at our goals. We keep reaching for them win, lose or draw because our odds are better every time we try.
I’m a writer.
My plan is to write quality speculative fiction every year, reach a wider audience and become a better writer with each IP I create. If I get better, I attract more luck. As a writer, you don’t know for sure how you’ll strike gold. But you do know the better you become; the more opportunities will present themselves. Is it a straight path? Of course not. JK Rowling had Harry Potter rejected twelve times before she published it. She had to keep going and keep busy with the process of being a
writer.
Keep Believing in Yourself
You can boost your confidence and self-esteem by trusting your abilities. Seeing yourself succeed in your mind is the first step in making better decisions. Then, when your decisions make your life better, your confidence gets a nice little boost. And round and round it goes. When someone is confident, they exude excitement and energy. You’re motivated to work harder than most and will go further than most.
You can make good luck for yourself by being bold, optimistic and positive. Understand what you can and cannot change and act accordingly. It’s about flipping a mental switch and changing your outlook to enable you to better pursue your dreams and goals. Remember, luck only favours you when you make room for it.
It takes time, and it’s not a solo game.
Be patient with yourself, be flexible and use the people and tools you have around. You have everything you need to be lucky.
